Originating from Ayvalik, Anatolia, the members of the Pagidas family settled in Ancient Epidavros in the first half of the 19th century. The family built a traditional house made of stone right in front of the picturesque harbor of the village. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the ground floor of the house was used as a storage room for agricultural goods such as olive oil and other groceries, while it was also used as a taverna offering food and wine. Due to its unique spot, the place continued to be used as a taverna run by members of the family and different businessmen of the area throughout the years.
In May of 2009 the descendants of the Pagidas family and current owners of the restaurant, renovated the original construction with respect to its history and family tradition and created the café – restaurant with the name “KOILON”.
